Person
The World Bank, as well as a team of technical experts, have designed an interactive program based on the GPC standard with the contribution of partners and experts from around the world. The study program follows the process of creating inventories, starting with the sale of the advantages of an inventory to city leaders, data collection, management, quality insurance and verification, and at the end with a module connecting GHG inventories to wider planning of climate action. Each module is made up of presentation slides, interactive exercises and case studies that highlight real challenges. The training will be provided in regions around the world with training partners who have local experience.
Online learning and support
The CPC is organizing a community of collaboration for development (C4D) where city practitioners can engage with global experts and find resources that help them manage the challenges of GHG stocks. The C4D site hosts an “Ask the Expert” forum and is planning a future series of webinars that presents online training on a series of deep technical dives.
City climate planning certificate exam
The certificate examination is the main component of the City Climate Planner certificate program. The examination was written and developed by experts in accounting of GHG emissions and is supposed to rigorously test the knowledge of examination takers. The success of the examination demonstrates control of the process of building the inventory of GHGs and its connection with the planning of the city climate, and also supports professional development in the field.
A professional diploma for people working in the city's climate action can provide the following advantages:
- Draw individuals in the field of climate planning by establishing a professional career path
- Provide a quality insurance mechanism and a signal to potential employers
- Establish a set of technically solid practices that can help improve the overall quality of climate planning
- Foster communities of practice or professional associations which evolve and develop the profession
- Bind stock results to wider local and national climatic objectives to help formulate and move policy for the benefit of green growth of the city scale
Partners
The program was generously funded by the Korean green growth partnership. The main contributory partners are the Global Resources Institute,, Itculei local governments for sustainabilityAnd C40 Cities Leadership Group.
In addition, a large number of organizations focused on the environment, city networks, city officials, etc. participated in the development of the program. These include, but without limiting themselves: the philanthropies of Bloomberg, Un-Habitat, Japan International Cooperation Agency and a variety of city municipalities on average and large.
