In the midst of armed conflicts in progress, climate change, forced displacement and other prolonged crises, almost a quarter of billions of children– an increase of 35 million in the past three years – are deprived of access to quality education.
While the global community is looking for innovative solutions to meet these complex challenges, responsible use of artificial intelligence (AI) presents a promising opportunity to meet children's learning needs by widening access, by personalizing education and strengthening education systems in the most fragile contexts. Several initiatives have sought to use a generative AI for good in crisis contexts. The platforms fueled by AI have the potential to move the way learning occurs, including by Provide tailor -made learning experiences and help synthesize relevant learning equipment.
On May 13, the Center for Universal Education will host a round table on emerging strategies for using AI in education in crisis contexts. Moderate by the colleague and senior director Rebecca Winthrop, the discussion will be featured:
- Jamie Alexandre: Co-founder and co-director of equality of learning, a non-profit organization dedicated to support for learning children in the most marginalized contexts
- Krista Belen Rivas Gutierrez: World leader in the Study network of tertiary refugeesA network led by students who aims to increase self-compliance with refugees by connecting learners and former refugees at local, national and global level
- Mati Amin: Co-founder and CEO of Solax, an online academy based in WhatsApp where students can access daily, asynchronous courses work in three languages
