The survey reveals an optimistic perspective for AI in education, because students and teachers present an increase in adoption, attitudes and access to AI solutions to support the learning path
San Francisco,, July 16, 2025 / Prnewswire / – World learning platform Quizlet Today has launched its How America learns Report, an evolution of its annual report on the state of AI in education. Expolving his vision of factors with an impact on education, this year's survey explores the American perspectives of students, teachers and parents on the implementation of AI, digital learning and commitment, and success beyond the class.
“At Quizlet, we spent almost two decades to put students at the center of everything we do,” said Quizlet CEO Kurt Beidler. “We have presented this research to better understand the habits of studying students today and ensuring that we are building tools that not only help our tens of millions of monthly learners to succeed, but also to reflect what they really need their learning experience.”
AI becomes omnipresent in education
As the solutions generating AI gain ground in education from one year to the next, adoption and attitudes towards technology have increased and improved. The Quizlet survey revealed that 85% of respondents – including secondary and college teachers, as well as students aged 14 to 22 – said they used AI technology, a significant increase of 66% in 2025. Among the respondents using AI, teachers are now exceeding IA adoption students (87% vs 84%), compared to 2024 conclusions When students have slightly exceeded teachers.
Among the 89%of all students who say IA technology for school (compared to 77%in 2025), the three main use cases summarize or synthesize information (56%), research (46%) and the generation of guides or study materials (45%). The highest uses of AI technology among teachers have remained the same, but have seen significant growth in annual sliding: research (54% vs 33%), summary or summary of information (48% vs 30%) and the generation of class documents such as tests and assignments (45% vs 31%).
While the emergence of AI has presented new challenges related to academic integrity, 40% of respondents think that AI is used in a classroom. However, students are much less likely to feel this (29%) compared to parents (46%) and teachers (57%), signaling a continuous need for education and directives on responsible use of AI technology for learning.
“Like any new technology, AI offers incredible opportunities, but also a responsibility to use it in a thoughtful way,” said Maureen Lamb, president of the AI working group and president of the language department at the Miss Porter school. “As the adoption in education develops, we need clear directives that help mitigate risks and unlock the full potential of AI. Everyone – students, educators and parents – is a role to play in understanding not only the use of AI, but when and why it should be used.”
Digital learning requires growth while the difference in actions persists
Just as AI becomes a must in education, the results of the survey have also revealed that digital learning is gaining popularity, 64% of respondents expressing that digital learning methods should be equal to traditional education methods, in particular teachers (71%).
Respondents indicated that flexibility (56%), personalized learning (53%) and accessibility (49%) were the most beneficial aspects of digital learning. And with 77% of students who make sacrifices, including loss of sleep, personal time and missed coachers due to homework, digital learning offers a promising path to a more accommodating approach.
While the majority of respondents agreed on the importance and benefits of digital learning, the results also underlined a disparity in access to these tools. Despite almost half (49%) of respondents agreeing that all students in their community have equal access to learning equipment, technology and support to succeed on a school level, this percentage falls to 43% for respondents with diagnosed or self-identified learning differences, neurodivergent lines or accessibility needs.
Maximize the success of academic and real learning
Although the discussion on AI and education has largely focused on use cases for academic learning, the report also revealed an opportunity for greater support to help conduct success beyond the class and provide the resources necessary for learning the real world.
Almost 60% of respondents believe that a four -year university degree is very important to obtain professional success (58%). However, more than a third of students, teachers and parents interviewed believe that schools do not adequately prepare students for success beyond the class.
“While we drive the next era of learning propelled by AI, it is our mission to give each student and the learner for life the tools and confidence to succeed, whatever their motivation or what they strive to achieve,” said Beidler. “As we have seen in the data, there are immense opportunities with regard to the learning linked to the career, from the development of life skills to improve work preparation, which goes far beyond the class and addresses what we hear from students and teachers.”
The five main skills that respondents have indicated should have priority in schools are critical thinking and problem solving (66%), financial literacy (64%), mental health management (58%), leadership (52%) and creativity and innovation skills (50%).
