2024 Theme: Youth skills for peace and development
In 2014, the United Nations General Assembly declared on July 15 as a World Day for Youth Skills, to celebrate the strategic importance of equipping young people with employment skills, decent work and entrepreneurship.
The theme of the World Day of Youth Skills 2025, “the skills of young people for peace and development”, underline the crucial role that young people play in peacebuilding and conflict resolution.
The world faces a multitude of challenges today, many of which affect young people. Violent conflicts disturbing education and stability, an online polarized environment promoting negativity and persistent economic inequalities limit opportunities. These problems threaten not only individual future, but also the overall stability of societies. It is crucial to equip young people with the skills necessary to promote a culture of peace, feed responsible global citizens and promote sustainable development to build a fairer, inclusive and sustainable future for all.
During the World Youth Skills Day, we unite by recognizing the potential of young people as an agents of peace and we are committed to providing them with skills and opportunities to meet the challenges and contribute to a peaceful, prosperous and sustainable future.

Why is World Day for Young Skills Important?
In 2014, the United Nations General Assembly declared July 15 as a World Day for Youth Skills, to celebrate the strategic importance of equipping young people with job skills, decent work and entrepreneurship. Since then, the events of the World Day of Youth Skills have provided a unique opportunity for dialogue between young people, technical and professional training and training establishments (TVEP), companies, employers' organizations and workers, decision -makers and development partners. Participants highlighted the ever -increasing importance of skills while the world embarks on a transition to a sustainable development model.
What role does technical and professional education and training play?
Education and training are at the heart of the realization of 2030 agenda. The vision of the Incheon declaration: education 2030 is entirely captured by Sustainable development objective 4 “Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for everyone”. Education 2030 is a considerable attention to the development of technical and professional skills, in particular with regard to access to education and technical and professional training of affordable quality (TVEP); the acquisition of technical and professional skills for employment, decent work and entrepreneurship; The elimination of gender disparity and the guarantee of access to vulnerable. In this context, the EFTP should respond to multiple demands of an economic, social and environmental nature by helping young people and adults to develop the skills they need for employment, decent work and entrepreneurship, promoting fair, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, and support for transitions to green economies and environmental sustainability.
The EFTP can provide young people with the skills necessary to access the world of work, including skills for independent work. EFTP can also improve responsiveness to change of competence by companies and communities, increase productivity and increase salary levels. The EFTP can reduce the obstacles of access to the world of work, for example by learning to work and ensuring that the skills acquired are recognized and certified. The EFTP can also offer skills development possibilities for low -skilled people who are under or unemployed, outside the school and individuals who are not in education, employment and training (NEET).
