The VHS Learning Academy, formerly known as Massachusetts Mayflower Academy, is an accredited online secondary school powered by VHS Learning, a non -profit organization offering high quality online courses since 1996. Among the courses offered this fall are AP®AFRICAN American Studies,, StylingAnd Hospitality and tourism: travel around the world.
AP® African-American studies Examine the various social, political and cultural experiences of Afro-Attrenlines in the Americas. The four units of the course cover a period of 3000 years and include origins of the African diaspora; Freedom, enslavement and resistance; The practice of freedom; and movements and debates. Participating students will develop data analysis skills when they engage with primary and secondary source equipment. Students must also carry out a summer duty which consists in examining the prior content and critical concepts before starting the course. In addition, participants in the course must carry out an individual project which requires an analysis of four related sources on a subject of choice.
Students who take Styling Explore career and business opportunities in the fashion industry, sustainable fashion and the ways that fashion welcomes disabled. Students will acquire technical knowledge such as various hand or machine points and appropriate tools and fabrics for different projects. They will also learn to communicate with insurance and to present their skills, talents and interests positively.
In Hospitality and tourism: travel around the worldStudents are investigating different companies in the hotel and tourism industries and explore the impact of tourism at local, national and global levels. The participants in the course will also discover what is involved in the exploitation of tourist places, the creation of marketing for leisure and travel, tracking trends and planning events.
