Today, the ShRM Foundation is launching the Returns the Talen Certificate Program (GTBTW)Funded with generous support from the Lumina Foundation. The certificate, which focuses on the hiring of qualified people who have criminal and / or conviction, is the first of its kind, said Wendi SAFSTROM, Executive Director of the SHRM Foundation.
The 10 -hour online learning program provides education and the resources necessary to shed light on HR practices in the attraction, hiring and conservation of these people and the equipment of HR professionals they need.
Thanks to this multiple facets program, SAFSTROM said: “The ShRM Foundation and the HR community can influence systemic changes on a large scale for this critical population by directing work initiatives that offer second -chance populations an equitable opportunity to take a job.”
The program resources help human resources professionals, job managers and front -line supervisors recognize their own biases, act and capitalize on the value of the employment of people with criminal and / or conviction.
The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) launched The GTBTW initiative In 2019 a month later Adoption of Fair Chance Actwhich improves the rehabilitation and reintegration of opportunities for thousands of incarcerated men and women. Johnny C. Taylor, Jr., SHRM-SCP, Chairman of SHRM and CEO, called on employers to change their recruitment practices to include candidates with criminal history.
