In a stage towards the construction of Nigeria's workforce, and the positioning of Nigeria as a global hub for technical talents, MTN Nigeria has over time engaged ₦ 3 billion to support the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and the Digital Economy Program of 3 million technical talents (3MTT). This commitment, aimed at equipping young Nigerians with digital skills and unlocking large -scale economic opportunities, continued to give a tangible impact across the country.

As a founding supporter of the program, MTN Nigeria played a decisive role from the start, helping to lay the foundations for the Pan-African United Foundation (PAUF) and the Lagos Business School supporting the implementation. Its contribution allowed the training of more than 90,000 Nigerians in two cohorts, deployed through 197 organizations of learning cluster applied by partner (ALCS) nationally. With $ 1.45 billion already disbursed to support technical training, 1.5 billion data scholarships throughout the program life cycle to facilitate access to connectivity for learners, and an additional ₦ million for Raspberry Pi devices distributed for practical learning within the framework of the ministry’s construction program, by the dynamic support of MTN Nigeria, by dynamic technological collaboration. The Raspberry Pi kits alone supported 3,500 young innovators in the secondary schools of Nigeria.

“MTN Nigeria has been a partner engaged in the 3MTT program since its creation, playing an essential role in laying the basics of what has become the largest accelerator of technological talents in the world. While we are working to position Nigeria as a global hub for digital talents, partnerships like this are vital to ensure that opportunities are not limited by geography or circumstance, but led by skills, inclusion and the goal.

Dr ‘Bosun Tijani, Minister of Communications, Innovation and the Digital Economy, Federal Republic of Nigeria.

This partnership arrives at a time when the world technological ecosystem is experiencing a shortage of talents, and Nigeria – through 3MTT – is up to meet this demand. With more than 1.8 million requests received and its current final pilot phase cohort, the program is on the right track to start its scaling phase in the second quarter of this year. This next phase will also implement the implementation of the recently launched Nigeria Talent Cities initiative which aims to build a campus network to outsource and unlock 500,000 jobs by 2027. The program is at the forefront of the construction of the technical deviation of talents which will increase productivity locally and cement the position of Nigeria as the leader of the world digital economy.

The intervention of MTN Nigeria directly addresses obstacles such as affordability, infrastructure and access, ensuring that budding learners, regardless of the location or economic history, can obtain fully paid scholarships to acquire skills to the test of future in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, global digital analysis, product management, compromise in the cloud, developing software, among others and in transition to the global digital economy.

“As a technological business determined to advance Africa’s progress, we recognize that digital skills are the basis of innovation, employment and economic inclusion. Our commitment to the 3MTT program is a commitment to the future of Nigeria, because it aims to build the technical talents that will feed our digital economy and position the country as an export talent. In addition, by supporting the initiative, the continuation of the MTN is also in the process of the telecmunia accelerating economic growth and social development. »»
