Following the IPS using every day of asynchronous learning authorized before Monday, an additional school day will be nailed until the end of the year.
Indianapolis – Indianapolis public schools will operate an asynchronous learning day on Monday, April 14.
In a statement published on Sunday evening, IPS said that because of a large number of expected teachers who were expected in several schools on Monday, the department will have no learning in person and students will work in place independently on assignments.
IPS says that students work will be due on April 21.
Following the IPS using every day of asynchronous learning authorized before Monday, an additional school day will be nailed until the end of the year. The latest day for students will take place on Friday, May 23, while teachers will have their last day extended to Tuesday May 27.
“We recognize that many staff members will attend a day of action at the Indiana Statehouse on Monday, April 14, and we support the advocacy of our staff members, as well as the advocacy demonstrated by so many of our families,” read part of the IPS declaration. “Despite our best efforts, we have not been able to identify enough staff coverage to feel confident in our ability to safely operate schools on Monday, April 14, while staff members are absent. We apologize for the disadvantage that this can cause families because it is not a decision that is taken lightly.”
