I really encourage people to bring creative ideas or to recognize where the points of pain are and to volunteer to help, even in junior roles.

I started my career in marketing, and worked in trade, then on the markets, then on the social impact, and now I run a SaaS company. To navigate a career like mine which has so many varied elements, focusing on general skills – things that are not specific technical skills – is really important.

I have acquired difficult skills such as reading a balance sheet. I use this skill as CEO of a company, but it is not what helped me to advance in my career. It was a check -up skill and not a needle engine.
