How I reviewed Edureka

I reviewed Edureka by spending a few weeks getting to know the platform, investigating Edureka’s introductory videos, and comparing their course content with competing platforms. I also scoured the internet to find user reviews detailing their experiences with the site. 

What I liked about Edureka

In-demand skills

Edureka’s courses have been carefully curated to reflect the top skills in the tech world right now. Scouring hundreds of job descriptions to figure out what it is that companies are really looking for, these courses are focused on key skills and will make your resume shine.

Exam-focused courses 

Many of Edureka’s programmes are focused on delivering the specific skills and knowledge required to pass key industry exams such as the Microsoft Azure AZ-305 exam, or the Scrum Master certification. This will massively increase your chances in a job market that values specific skills and help you stand out with solid proof of your knowledge and expertise.

Highly motivational

Edureka’s mission is to get as many people to complete their courses as possible. If you seem to be lagging behind, or not very engaged in the course, they’ll get in touch to keep you on track and encourage you to complete, with 24/7 online support.

What could be improved

On the expensive side

Edureka’s goal is to provide in-demand tech skills that will land you a converted job. As such, their courses are in-depth and contain a great deal of content, and their price point reflects this, with many courses running into the thousands of dollars. However, when you consider the potentially huge jump in salary that a pivot to a career in tech could provide, it could be a fantastic investment. 

Insistent communication

The flipside to Edureka’ constant encouragement is that such frequent communication can quickly become annoying. After signing up to view a course curriculum, I’ve received three phone calls and a Whatsapp message from Edureka encouraging me to sign up for the course. If you’re someone who really needs accountability, this might be just what you need, but if not then it might feel suffocating. 

Who Edureka is for

Edureka is a fantastic option for anyone:

• Interested in developing their career in tech, or pivoting to a slightly different field within it.
• Wanting to prepare for a specific exam or test, as Edureka has content designed with the latest versions of common industry exams in mind
• That benefits from the structured live learning experiences offered by Edureka, which is a lot more personal and engaging than pre recorded content that you engage with completely alone (although if this style of learning suits you better, most courses have self-paced study as an option too!)
• Who struggles with following through on their goals – Edureka is a great way to stay on track, with a heavy focus on accountability, reminders and support

Can I buy Edureka as a gift?

Edureka does not currently have the option to buy a course as a gift.

There are a few different ways to find great courses on Edureka.

Firstly, there’s a search bar, so you can just enter the subject you’re interested in learning about to find all the available courses.

Alternatively, you can browse through all their courses to see what catches your eye. 

When you select a course, the home page will provide all the information you need, including price, duration, curriculum, average salary of jobs in each industry and reviews from previous students. So you can gain a deeper understanding of what you’re signing up for.

Is Edureka legit?

Edureka might seem too good to be true, but I can assure you that it’s 100% legit. Not only have I taken the time to explore the site, but Edureka also has thousands of real customers who have completed courses.

Edureka refund

Edureka’s website states that it has a 7 day refund policy. However, be aware that this is seven days from date of purchase, not the beginning of the course, which can be over 7 days after the purchase. So, this is something to bear in mind.

Edureka alternatives

Closest to Edureka is Great Learning, another India based platform. This operates on a very similar basis with all the same advantages and a similar price point to Edureka. Choosing between them would largely come down to the specific course you are interested in.

Udemy is a great alternative to Edureka, covering many of the same topics. With frequent sales, if you time it right then you can get some amazing deals. The courses on Udemy are generally much shorter than Edurkea’s offerings, and are all self-paced. You won’t get the live teaching, dedicated support or assignments that Edureka offers. But this might be a better place to dabble in tech skills before committing to a longer and more expensive Edureka course. 

Another similar platform is Coursera, which offers both short and long-term, intensive courses on a variety of topics, most affiliated with world class universities. Again, these are self-paced, without live teaching. Though they do demand a similar level of commitment to Edureka. In terms of pricing many short courses are completely free but those of a similar  depth to Edureka’s courses are about the same cost. Coursera certificates, coming from universities like Yale and Michigan,might be a little more recognised than Edureka’s.

Also worth considering are Udacity, Pluralsight and Datacamp. 

Edureka reviews: What others have said

To write the most thorough Edureka review possible, I searched the web to find out about other users’ experiences. 

Edureka’s Trustpilot reviews are overwhelmingly positive, with one user writing that their over all experience was ‘very good’, and that ‘the course content was well-structured and focused on practice and concepts’. In addition, the instructor had a ‘very practical approach’, and it was easy to follow up classes with recordings and Q and A sessions.

Another user had a great experience with a Tableau course, writing that the course was,

'amazing and the instructor was super helpful and understanding. They provided quizzes, assignments and a project for certification. ‘I took the Data Analytics with R certification. It was good. But it’s foolish to expect that a 2-3 week course will land you a job. Evaluating Edureka

Features: When you sign up to a course, you get access to live lessons, the ability to ask your expert tutors questions and carefully structured course content. Plus the ability to complete assignments and capstone projects to add to your resume and practice your newly acquired skills.

Content quality: Generally the course quality seems to be great, although it can vary from tutor to tutor. Courses are created by analyzing job specs, so you can be sure the content is relevant and in-demand.

Content breadth: Edureka’s courses are tech-based, with courses covering topics from cloud computing, data science, and project management to artificial intelligence and frontend development.

Teachers: The teachers are all professionals in their field, and students generally seem happy with the quality of their teaching.

Supporting materials: There aren’t a huge amount of materials that accompany the course, however you get great access to tutors via Q&As, as well as regular projects and assignments.

Payments & refunds: The courses range from several hundred dollars to several thousand, depending on the length of each course.

Support: Edureka are very easily contactable by telephone or email, and have and FAQ section to help you troubleshoot.

Is Edureka worth it?

In my personal opinion, Edureka is worth it if you have a specific career goal in mind, and you’re willing to invest a significant amount of time and money. 

It’s also a great investment if you’re someone who really appreciates live teaching and needs that extra bit of support and motivation to follow through on your learning goals.

If you’re just curious about learning more tech skills, or considering a career pivot, then Edureka probably isn’t worth it. I would recommend a shorter course on Udemy or a similar platform to get a taste of the field first.

Overall, Edureka is a great platform with a huge range of tech related courses, practical assignments and additional encouragement to help you progress to the next stage of your career.
