Eat insects – Metadevo

Like most people, the notion of eating insects disgust me.

Of course, we are likely to eat small bugs or insect pieces all the time without knowing it. I read a theory somewhere that vegetarian Indians used to obtain enough protein in part of the bugs they accidentally eaten in the grains.

Before saying, do not hit it before trying it, I have already eaten a cooked bug “correctly”. It was a board made in a supposedly old regional style in Ecuador – this is one thing they do for tourists. It had a bit like bacon but too fatty for me (don't get me wrong, I like to eat fats, but mixed with foods not in a big format). I will stick to vertebrates.

But more importantly, why are some people so dead to reprogram me to eat insects?

Well, a front seems to come from Europe. Recently, the EU has approved flour worms in food, and they don't even need to have an explicit labeling on flour worms. (Flour worms are the larval stage of certain beetles.)

Rumor is that Europe has regressed their technology and expertise to prevent the infestation of cereal storage insects. Instead of trying to solve the problem, they simply launch their hands and say well, we will also treat the bugs.

A little frightening anti -rogressant, especially since some people could be allergic to this. And we do not have enough research to know if eating chitin (a material in insect exoskeletons, including larvae like flour worms), it is like a fiber that passes or if it causes problems in humans or if it can really have health benefits. Chitin is a biopolymer – there is probably an interesting Venn diagram of people who are afraid of synthetic polymers – AKA plastics – in our body but agree with the natural polymers of insects.

Even without deterioration of infrastructure and / or loss of skills, there are insecticide problems. Supposedly Europe has prohibited some of the most powerful insecticides, which has, of course, allowed more insects to stay alive on their plants and cereals. Another problem, and I do not know if Europe has this problem, but it is closely monitored in Australia, is the rapid evolution of evolution to be immune to pesticides. And when a population of insects wins resistance, you want to keep it local and not let it spread throughout the continent (or the world).

So yes, it is not easy, but it seems crazy to me that a fundamental part of the civilization of the human world which was resolved 100 years ago now and some people do not want to solve deep causes. Some people think that non-procurement is in a way equal to progression: “Yeah, we are just going to eat insects now, we think so much!”

But we have always had a little bugs in our food, what is the problem? You will not die! There are worse things in food at the moment that a few flour verses! Uh, yes, I think progress should be more known about what is in our food at all levels, no less. And of course, you will not die (probably), but we don't even have much research on food insects and even if we have done it, give people the opportunity not to eat bugs.

The other reason they push insects is apparently environmentalism directly. Unless you thought that ultra rich and powerful scheme to make us “eat ZE bugs” for any reason in the context of a new world order or something. It is certainly a frightening notion if it was going too far – it could cause a nation to fall if it had only insects for proteins. Seriously, this could cause decivorization. The first Americans, even the poorest, had massive access to meats Including beef and wild game. Apparently, the abundance of meat did not play a small role in the first American progress. Super-power of meat to become a global superpower.

Something really bothers me about people who want we eat crickets.

And it is not only that they have no sense of humor. The main problem is why are insects the one and only real solution to save us? More as in darkness bind us. Yes, a cow pasture is more methane than a cricket farm. Yes, cattle use more water. So what? Also note that the mixture of a certain type of algae in cow's diet eliminates most of the farts. Anyway, humans need resources. The final point of resource reduction is to simply eliminate humans. The opposite of humanism. Many “solutions” also end up being politicized, with people pushing them and after failing or are poor, they always push them: “We just need to double this time.” And the boy are there so many examples of these here in California where I live.

In the space of solution, for example, what about cultivated meat in the laboratory? GOOD Laboratory cultivated meat could be worse for the environment than normal meat. I hope it will eventually happen, but for everything I know, maybe the market will never be there. But you might think that Taco Bell could simply go to laboratory meat and that no one knows it and it would be a huge demand there.

Whatever the concepts of specific solution – and I never want meat cultivated in the laboratory to take 100% of conventional meat anyway – we have a large space for a large world. Agriculture and climate and all the big things in our world are dynamic systems with many variables. Some subsystems can even be complex and / or chaotic. Side effects have occurred and will perform in the future as a result of human actions. Oh, Americans should stop eating burgers because a third world country continues to burn their tropical forest to make cow pastures. Well, we (as in hamburgers consumers) do not ask them to do so. We can raise cows here in America. But then other countries will lose money, people need jobs. And so on.

There is no unique solution.

If you want to reduce the greenhouse gases of underdeveloped nations, this is a big problem – but it should not require austerity of human foods in nations of the first world or third world. It is not a solution. It's literally crazy to want to go back. We must never do anything that will reverse the progress of civilization. And it takes energy, a lot of energy. And as we see with some countries in recent decades that have been trying to catch up, it also produces a lot of waste (which it should better manage). And you need access to nutritious foods like meat!

But they will tell you that we don't have time! The world will end soon because of global warming! In fact, we know how to cool things if we want, we accidentally did it in the last century. Anyway, there are a lot of things we can do and try to tell cultures to simply stop and change arbitrarily and in an anti-humanist and anti -rogress way is crazy.

Be that as it may, cricket shooters are essentially luddites with a superiority complex that probably could not find their way in a paper bag, and I have no patience with their militant buffoonery.
