The role of an educational designer evolves, develops and more than ever. Once considered as a learning event planner for typical class programs with a short set of defined tasks (such as needs analysis, writing learning objectives and the assessment of learning programs), educational designers need a set of enlarged skills. These now essential skills include business sense, consultative approaches, design approaches based on learning sciences and technological expertise. Designers must pivot between the design of several modalities such as face to face, online and virtual learning as well as implementing learning solutions via several media flows such as online learning modules, learning management systems, podcasts, mobile applications, videos, infographics and animated shorts. Armed with broader skills, educational designers have the flexibility of being the jack-of-all-trades and a strategic resource in great demand for organizations.

The theory is essential; The same goes for learning the practical process of applying principles of educational design to work solutions. During this asynchronous and online eight -week online cohort experience, you will explore real world projects and benefit from peer collaboration via discussion forums. You will have conversations on educational design subjects to demonstrate your ability to design the needs of modern learners and explore deeper dives on the most applicable content to your work. Identify where you shine and where you have growth possibilities in all aspects of the design process, the initial needs assessment, the design and development of content, the implementation and evaluation of your solutions.
