A good leadership is to ask good questions

Today, managers must review a neglected competence: ask questions. During my 40 years as an executive and advisor in Silicon Valley, I have often seen leaders assuming that people turn to them to get answers – daring affirmations that strengthen people's confidence in their competence. But in reality, this kind of approach erodes confidence, especially at a time when so many things are clearly uncertain. Do you think you have the answers to all important questions? This suggests that you are without any idea – you have no idea of the speed with which the world changes – or that you lie. In both cases, you will not find this confidence you are looking for.
