County of Pitt, NC (Witn) – The season of return to school is approaching, and the teachers here ensure that they are ready to start in mid -August.
Since artificial intelligence remains important in the daily life of many people, educators now envisage the advantages and disadvantages of the integration of AI into the class.
From automatic notation to help students learn at their own pace, some schools welcome AI that clings to open arms, but others say that technology increases red flags.
Defenders say that AI can save time for teachers, offer personalized comments to students and even bridge linguistic barriers, according to the University of Illinois College of Education.
Some have their concerns, including privacy and plagiarism challenges.
The digital learning specialist in the District of Pitt County schools, Beth Madigan, says they are looking forward to using AI in a responsible manner.
“In search of credible sources and to ensure that the student and the teacher are always content experts,” explains Madigan. “The machine is not the expert. The student is the expert. The teacher is the expert. “
She says they will do this by forming teachers to teach students how to use AI as a supporter of thought, not replacement.
“There are IA experts in the school building, so when teachers have questions or things that can be questionable for students, they can go to their AI champion and get help, a coach, aid in this area,” said Madigan. Pcs
Madigan says PCS emphasizes the AI AI process on AI.
For example, teachers will examine how students can take advantage of AI to develop their original ideas safely and responsiblely.
Madigan says that the children's kindergarten to 5th year students will use AI in class with advice from their teachers.
Students from the 6th year to the 8th year will dive to find out what it means to speak with an AI machine.
District high school students will learn to cite sources properly when it comes to using AI.
The Illinois University of Education College affirms that criticism argues that students can count on AI to do work for them, and that there are concerns about data security, ethical use and lack of clear directives.
Although some schools, such as Pitt County schools, have already started to create policies for using AI, others always find their directives.
