County of Thomas, GA. (WCTV) – Students of Thomas County Middle School acquire a practical experience of artificial intelligence thanks to a state -of -scale education initiative.

The school is one of the many participants in artificial intelligence for Georgia, known as AI4GA. Thomas County Middle School Will Hanna's professor said the program is a collaboration with the Georgia Department of Education and several universities.

“It will be widespread, and it's already widespread,” said Hanna.

The course of nine weeks teaches students AI in a relatable way.

“We can explore things like robots, autonomous vehicles and work with the way language is acquired by computers and understood in progress and how AI and computers can make decisions,” said Hanna.

Students are not only learning AI in the program; They also help teach him. Some are presented in a series of videos explaining how AI is used in daily life.

“This is an opportunity for more people to get involved and more students to be exhibited there,” said Hanna.

More news from Southern Georgia:

The program extended to classrooms in Florida, Texas and New York, according to Hanna.

The program aims to open doors to stem careers that students, such as the rise in the eighth year Kealon Heald, might not have considered before.

“I like to know more, so I am more aware and I can tell people,” said Heald. “It helps your knowledge.”

The initiative is also designed to increase access to AI education, especially for African-American, Latin and rural students.

The rise in the eighth year Achaia Reid said that it had considerably widened their knowledge of AI after the program.

“I never thought that I would deeply know how AI works,” said Reid. “I have never been interested, but I learned about it, and I said to myself, yes, it's interesting. It's fun. “
