Types of course
The new participants begin by undergoing initial training (a minimum of 16 hours of course instruction). Sponsors Offer lessons from 2 to 3 days. The initial courses adhere to a student ratio 1: 6 instructor, as well as a student ratio / Spirometer 1: 6.
Online recycling lessons and 1 day are available for participants who have already successfully completed the initial training. Recycling lessons last 1 day (minimum of 7 hours).

Advanced Spirometry Training
Niosh does not offer advanced training in Spirometry tests. However, two sponsors approved by Niosh offer training for doctors in Spirometry. Information on their training can be found on:
Certification
Students who have managed to complete a training course in Spirometry approved by Niosh will receive a certificate from the sponsor. Certification does not mean that you are “Niosh certified”. Rather means that you have achieved a course approved by Niosh.
Certificates are awarded to students for having successfully completed a course. They cannot be transferable to any organization, business or institution which may have provided financial assistance or refund.
Expiry
The course certificates are valid for 5 years. There is a 7 -month -old grace period authorized after the initial 5 -year training expiration. After 5 years and 7 months, technicians must take over an initial course of 2 or 3 days to continue the tests under these regulations. It is strongly recommended that technicians take recycling lessons long before the expiration of the certificate.
State certifications
State medical advice determines specific requirements for carrying out clinical tests in their states. Certain requirements of the State Medical Council cover only diagnostic tests, as in hospitals or clinics. Others can also cover monitoring of occupational diseases in private companies. THE National Council for Respiratory Care Provides certification of respiratory therapists to carry out pulmonary function tests. This includes Spirometry and other more complex tests.
