As part of Continuous education series of green industry,, University of Nevada, Reno Extension offers a series of 10 entry -level courses for those who wish to become certified by nursery worker. The workshops will include current information and based on research on important subjects for green industry professionals, including landscapers, nursery workers and guards.
The workshops will be offered from 9 a.m. to noon, every Tuesday and Thursday January 28 to February 25 at the University of Nevada, Reno Extension Office at 4955 Energy Way in Reno. An optional examination will be given on February 25. The courses are provided by experts in popularization, the staff of the Nevada agriculture department and local industry professionals. The subjects are intended to be useful both for those who are new in industry and those who seek to continue their studies in the field and include:
- January 28: landscape diagnosis
- January 30: soil and water management
- February 4: Bases of plant disease
- February 6: pruning of landscape plants
- February 11: harmful law of weeds and weeds
- February 13: Integrated management of pests and security of pesticides
- February 18: Identification of insects
- February 20: Sustainable management of ornamental lawn and grass
- February 25: Certification examination examination examination (optional)
The International Arboriculture Society (ISA), the safety of pesticides and landscape units economical in water (QWEL) may be available to follow certain classes. The cost of individual courses is $ 20 per class, or participants can register for the entire series for a reduced cost of $ 95. Organizations or companies that register two to five employees for the full price are offered a reduced price of $ 80 per student. The cost is still reduced to $ 70 per student when six or more employees of the same entity are recorded.
Register online By January 24. The costs include course equipment, attendance certificates and continuing education units. Classes also support the Green Industry Continuing Education Series courses, which take place all year round if necessary.
