Indianapolis (WISH) – Indianapolis public schools will go to online learning on Monday due to a high number of teachers.
The Indiana State Teachers Association has planned a day of action in the state from 10:30 am on Monday. This is one of the tests of several days of action that the group had during the legislative session of 2025. It comes as State legislators are approaching consensus on a bill to revise the Indiana land tax system.
In Indianapolis public schools, students will have to work independently on homework, which will be due on April 21. Families are advised to seek communication of their schools concerning the assignments of their students. It's calling an asynchronous day.
IPS says that as it is already used every day asynchronous authorized for the year, an additional day in person will be added to the school calendar to meet the requirements of the Indiana Department of Education of 180 days of teaching. This means that the last school day for students will be moved to May 23 and, for staff, it will be on May 27.
