Florida colleges and high school students enrolled in online courses will have the opportunity to win artificial intelligence in mathematical certification from next month.
The Florida Virtual School (FLVS), the online online school system, will collaborate with the University of Florida (UF) and an online STEM resource standard based on Massachusetts, the Consortium Concord, on a one -year certification program that will present students to the fundamental principles of AI and their overlap with key mathematical concepts, depending on a recent concept mathematics, depending on a recent press release. Algebra instructors will teach AI lessons and offer additional activities involving applications, ethics and career opportunities in the real world. Researchers from the UF and Concord consortium will collaborate with teachers to refine and improve courses according to students' results.
The AI courses are added to a list of other vocational and technical training offers (CTE) in the FLVS which allow students to win industry certifications through exams. For example, the school offers four CTE courses linked to AI, and after having finished at least three of them, students are ready to follow Microsoft's 365 fundamental examination and The Python Python certified Python of the Python Python Institute examination, according to the school system website. After the fourth lesson, students can take a Certified internet web examination From the Western Governors University, a neutral assessment of suppliers who could qualify them for jobs in areas such as web design or development, administration, networking and data security.
While FLVS offers these three certificates through external organizations, the new AI in mathematics certification is free and is one of the courses – a supplement for students taking algebra 1, a basic course in mathematics.
“The AI revolutionizes industries around the world, creating new opportunities,” said Jie Chao, project manager at the Concord Consortium, in a press release. “Our partnership with FLVS allows us to offer opportunities for learning robust AI to students with limited access to such resources, to fill educational gaps and to prepare young people for a future powered by AI.”
The press release indicates that students who will finish the program will leave with a new level of labor for the workforce and a certificate, issued by UF and the Concord Consortium, similar to the certification In AI, the fundamentals that the UF offers to undergraduate students.
As part of the program, FLVS teachers will also find out about new technologies in mathematical education, performing 40 hours of vocational training on the creation of interactive AI models and the visualization of abstract mathematics concepts.
“As a leader in online education for over 27 years, Florida Virtual School is committed to being at the forefront of educational innovation,” said Louis Algaze, president and chief executive officer of Florida Virtual School, in a statement. “By associating with UF and the Concord Consortium, we equip our students with essential mathematical skills and knowledge to navigate and succeed in an improved ADI world.”
