The creative and educational landscape of India has experienced a decisive moment as the Indian Institute of Creative Skills (Iics) welcomed the three days Delhi Creators Summit in the capital, celebrate the immense potential of young people in the media, content creationand digital narration. The summit highlighted the urgent need to Skills -based education aligned with global standards and the relevance of the industry.
Oscar and Bafta Sound Designer and Padma Shri Award PookuttyWho made the nation proud of his Oscars for Slumdog Millionaire, addressed to the top with a sincere conviction. “When passion becomes a profession, excellence is inevitable,” he said, urging India's youth to look inward, identifying their true vocation and pursuing it tirelessly. Pookutty, which has since worked on Landmark films like 2.0, collaborated internationally and has contributed to immersive sound technologies, continues to enarken sound professionals and participate in global forums shaping the future of cinema.
He shared how each child has a unique skill, but often does not have the opportunity or the exhibition to recognize and nourish it. Societal or family pressures often dictate career choices, while real growth occurs when they are trained in what they like. He recognized the role of the government of India in the recognition of the importance of skills development since 2012 and highlighted the importance of platforms such as IIC in the training of a generation of conscious creative professionals.
Ved Man Tiwari, CEO of the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and the MD of NSDC International, echoed this vision and spoke of the Indian Institute of Creative Skills as a key pillar of the Skill India mission. He stressed that the Institute is committed to identifying and improving the capacities of each student, offering a world class infrastructure, a mentoring of experts and certifications which bring the weight of the industry not only in India but in the world.
Dr (Hon) Mohit Soni, CEO of Media & Entertainment Skills Council (MESC), has developed the capacity of IICS to serve as a global launch for the creative youth of India. He stressed that students will receive training focused on industry in several creative areas, ranging from performance, sound and music, media management, digital narration, communication and creation of experiential events. The Institute is designed to ensure that creativity leads to commercial viability and global employability.
The filmmaker Ketaki Pandit added that each video creator today is essentially a filmmaker. The objective, she said, is to refine this raw talent to world class content creators by providing them with the right tools, training and technical excellence. She stressed that creativity can be an economic engine, and the Indian Institute of Creative Skills will guarantee that its students are empowered both artistically and financially.
The international renowned makeup artist, Yasmin Rogers, who worked in Bollywood and the world cinema, responded to the growing demand for qualified make -up professionals, in particular for on -site filming. As a mentor, she assured that students graduates from the Indian Institute of Creative Skills will be of high quality and ready to face Indian and international duties, thanks to strict quality and placement standards of the Institute.
Dr. Akhil Kumar, the driving force behind the Delhi creators' summit, shared that the event was deliberately inclusive – influencers according to millions of followers alongside budding creators. The summit has favored a mutual learning and growth environment, allowing content creators to evolve collectively. With more than 80 creators present and many others demonstrating interest, he said that the answer was proof of how the content creation ecosystem is booming. He also noted that government organizations recognize and now integrate social media creators in their traditional campaigns and programs.
