How does Turing College work?

Turing College currently has two program types – career programs and a Master’s degree. The application process is similar for each:

From here, follow the prompts and complete the information. The initial form will take around 10 minutes to complete, and the team aims to get back to you within 1-2 days.

The final two-thirds of the process involves the video interview and a final phone. The team will keep you updated regarding your status, including the final decision and your start date.

That being said, there are two main pricing options depending on which of the two programs you opt for.

Career Program

Turing College’s career programs are for working professionals looking to upskill in Data Science, Analytics, Data Engineering, or Web Development. Programs range from 6-24 months in duration and are flexible to your commitments.

The full price for one of these courses is around $5,000. Generally, you either pay upfront or make monthly installments. As far as financial aid goes, scholarships are available for EU residents and UZT funding is also available for LT residents only.

Master’s degree

As you’d expect, Turing College’s Data Science Master’s degree is considerably steeper than its career programs. With 12-24 months’ learning and full accreditation, this program is marked at $12,600.

While this is less in reach for some, it does offer a chance for working professionals to gain a postgraduate degree from the comfort of their home. Plus, because Turing College is led by AI expertise and Agile methodology, you can learn more effectively than with lecture-based learning.

As with their career programs, Turing College’s Master’s degree program offers the option to pay upfront or in monthly installments. You also have the option to apply for a scholarship if you’re an EU resident, or UZT funding if you reside in Lithuania.

Because Turing College is an admissions-based college, there’s no free trial. They also have fewer courses than other platforms. Because they’re all industry-led, these are strictly by application only.

How I reviewed Turing College

To write this review, I tried to get a well-rounded view of the platform. I did this by trying it out for myself, reading reviews, and listening to other students’ feedback.

I also looked into each program to get a feel for how the platform accommodated different learning goals. Plus, I wanted to see how the Master’s degree compared to the four other career programs, and which option could be best for each learner.

What I liked about Turing College

Deep learning of real world skills

As a data-driven platform, Turing College has a strong emphasis on deep and machine learning, which you can specialize in in their programs. But, what also sets it apart from other platforms is its use of AI simulation to mimic the workplace.

Online learning can feel far-removed from business settings. So, with expert composition, the AI-powered programs keep learning as close to your future day-to-day work as possible.

Career service support

As these programs are designed to get you into the workforce, it’s of clear benefit to have support services like mock interviews and salary negotiation.

With a 97.9% success rate of graduation-to-employment, Turing College is clearly doing something right. Plus, its additional resources include a free data science playbook and guidebooks in ChatGPT, business analytics – and even how to get hired.

The employment rate success is also worth mentioning in and of itself. This is because Turing College has what I’d call the best strategies to make the employment rate so high.

From their additional resources, AI-powered programs, and expert-led guidance, Turing College sets its students up for success. In my opinion, the 1-on-1 feedback (especially for capstone projects) is unrivaled.

6-24 month programs developed by senior professionals

Turing College’s programs aren’t only developed by leads in education, they’re also built in line with expert advice and input from tech companies.

This means you’re not only getting the practical knowledge to help you do the job – you’re learning the best ways to do that job effectively, innovatively, and to stand out from the crowd.

In contrast to theory-based learning, Turing College prioritizes lessons and projects that closely imitate what you’ll be doing on each day of your job.

What could be improved

Fewer programs available than other sites

While Turing College has plenty of factors in its favor, the small offering of courses is one of its few drawbacks. With only five courses in total, including its Master’s program, the platform pales in comparison to sites like Coursera and edX.

At the same time, Turing College’s courses are developed in line with expert guidance, AI, and Agile methodology. So, in comparison to other e-learning platforms that often have a broader scope of who they allow to teach, Turing College ensures quality over quantity.

Could benefit from more networking opportunities

Although Turing College encourages weekly standups with other students, there’s less emphasis on networking. As most graduates and professionals know, networking is a huge part of getting into a field.

So, along with the other career resources, the chance to network (or even guidance on how to network) would be a welcome addition.

Who is Turing College for?

Turing College is designed for students looking to learn flexibly and by their own schedule. Because of this, it’s best suited to:

• Those with families or other commitments

Can I buy Turing College as a gift?

At the time of writing, Turing College isn’t available as a gift. Its programs are by application only, much like any other college course/degree.

Because Turing College has five programs on offer, finding the best program for you couldn’t be simpler. You definitely won’t find yourself lost in categories or keyword searches.

Having tried out the platform for myself, and heard from other students who have had success on the platform, I can confidently say that Turing College is legit.

With educators from top companies like Google and Amazon, you can rest assured that you’re in safe hands. As it advertises, Turing College is also an excellent solution for working professionals who can’t commit to a full-time program.

With its 97.9% employment success rate, graduates have gone on to work for companies like Nord Security, Western Union, Swedbank, and Hitachi. Currently, the platform boasts 500+ active students in 20+ countries.

When it comes to refunds or changes to billing, these are assessed on a case-by-case basis through Customer Support. Turing College partners with Stripe for all billing, and you can access the Customer Portal here to report any changes or request help.

Turing College alternatives

It goes without saying that there are plenty of e-learning options out there. In comparison to most platforms, Turing College is fairly new and small, standing out due to its unique course structure and data specializations.

One alternative is edX. This platform offers both programs and degrees, and hosts an impressive selection of data science courses (and partnerships with Harvard University, among other colleges).

edX’s 3,500+ courses and 110 million enrollments to date are impressive statistics, and you can even take some courses for free. Most of edX’s teachers are leading academics and professors, so you know you’re in good hands.

That being said, many of the courses are more theory-led than Turing College’s, which might be a drawback to some. So, it’s definitely worth browsing the platform’s options to decide whether a particular course is a good match for your needs.

My aim here is to present the most balanced review of Turing College out there. So, I’ve looked into what other people had to say about Turing College – both good and bad.

Overall, reviews were generally positive, with students praising the platform’s innovative course structure and their intensive ‘sprints’. When it came to negative reviews, the main factor for improvement was the social/networking aspect:
