The history of coffee dates back to the 13th century, when it came out of Ethiopia, then spread to Egypt and Yemen. He reached the Middle East, Turkey and Persia in the 16th century, then Europe at the beginning of the 17th, but not without controversy. In Venice, some called him “the bitter invention of Satan”, but the pope, by tasteing him, gave him his blessing. In 1652, the first London coffee had opened its doors on St. Michael's Alley, bringing coffee to England – all thanks to a Sicilian immigrant, Pasqua dew.

Today, the British Museum is home to an inclination that may well be the first advertisement for coffee in England. This is remarkable for two reasons. First, the announcement introduced the British to what is now a staple food of the Western regime, and finally they would bring it to North America. And, moreover, you can see another example of the adage that the more things change, the more they remain the same. Advertising is advertising. Then, as now, drinks have been sold on their taste and health properties. And, of course, you have been encouraged to consume the product not one, but twice a day.
