Win a specialized online specialized online education certificate with this four -course program with 12 credits. For those who teach in Massachusetts, this certificate will meet academic requirements for the license of moderate handicap.

Students will acquire a practical experience in teaching in inclusive classrooms, as well as in autonomous classrooms, through an internship / internship experience of 150 hours and a semester.

* Students will finish reading the development of EDU 611 instead of SPE 547 Introduction to special education if they previously followed an introductory course to special education as part of their teacher preparation program.

Mtels

Applicants should have evidence to take the following Mtel tests:

Elementary MTL test

  • Communication and literacy skills
  • Foundations of the test of subject specialized in reading or reading
  • General program

Medium / secondary test test

  • Communication and literacy skills

Initial license

You will be eligible for an initial license in moderate handicap at the end of this program if you are an educator who currently has an initial license in Massachusetts in a basic academic field.

The exercise permit in moderate handicaps prek-8 or 5-12 can be added to any initial license in a basic academic field such as elementary, English, history, biology, physics, general sciences or mathematics.

Provisional license

You will be eligible for a provisional license in Massachusetts in moderate handicap after completing the special education certificate program if you are an educator in initial training or an educator who does not currently hold a teaching license, and have also succeeded in the MTEL concerned for the license.

Applicants who are teachers not my must already have a license in their country of origin which is equivalent to an initial MA license.

University requirements for admission to graduates

The following programs do not accept Duolingo: artistic education, biology / marine biology, nurse (MS, DNP, PHD), psychology: clinical and political policy.
