Frank, 53, is located every week in Laurens County, in South Carolina, according to lessons in the spectrum training and technology center of Laurens County Disabilitites and Special Bessed Board (LCDSNB). LCDSNB programs help participants acquire life and career skills, allowing them to reach their full potential. The caregivers estimated that Frank, diagnosed with autism, would benefit and would connect it to the organization.
LCSNDB is associated with Spectrum Community Center Assist (SCCA), the spectrum philanthropic program which provides financial support for vocational training, new technologies and the improvement of buildings. To date, Spectrum has provided $ 140,000 to LCDSNB.
SCCA funding has been used to create Spectrum Training and Technology Center, providing chairs, tables, laptops and to buy software at LCSNDB to encourage students like Frank to assess career interests and develop life skills. Rather than pursuing roles in the fast food industry or with a cleaning team he had considered, the Pathfinder software showed Frank that he had talent for administrative work. He now works two days a week in the county administration building.
“I like to answer phones and buzz people,” said Frank. “This is something that I look forward to every day and I made friends. It makes me feel good.
