In this practical tutorial, we will learn to transparently connect Claude Desktop to web search and content extraction capacities by using TAVY AImodel context protocol server (MCP) and Drilling customer. We will start by examining the home page and the TAVY dashboard, where you generate your developer API key. Then, we will explore the MCP TAVY server in the Smithery interface, install and configure the TAVILY-MCP package for Claude via the Smithery flow “Add the server” and check the installation with a simple PowerShell command. Finally, you will see how Claude can invoke Tavily Tools, Tavily-Search and Tavily-Excrat, to recover and analyze the contents live of the sites. At the end of this tutorial, we will have a fully integrated pipeline which allows your workflows on the AI of information per minute directly on the web.
Step 01: Go to TAVY AI Home page to register and access the TAVY API to configure the MCP server on the Claude desktop.
Step 2: Here, you see the TAVILY dashboard under the “researcher” plan, with an API use bar (0/1000 credits) and the development key generated (TVLY-DEV- …) ready to be copied to authenticate your requests.
Step 3: In the list of Smithery servers, the Tavier MCP server appears as a remote and digitized integration, with its two main tools, Tavily-Search and Tavily-Extract, detailed in the tool section.
Step 4: By clicking on “Add a server”, opens the Smithery customer selector in auto mode, listing the supported integrations such as Claude Desktop, Cursor, VS Code, etc.
Step 5: The Claude Desktop Configuration Modal displays the default “personal” profile by default and invites you to enter your API TAVILY key to activate the MCP connection.
Step 6: A Windows PowerShell window confirms the successful resolution and installation of the TAVIL MCP package for the Claude client, indicating that you can now trust and use this server integration.
Step 7: Now, Tavily MCP would have been created in Claude. Close and leave the Claude office and restart to see it in the settings.
Step 8: Claude's tune-toggle menu allows you to activate or deactivate Tavillante search and Tavilly trait on the fly, offering granular control on MCP tools that the assistant can call.
Step 9: In Claude's cat user interface, you can observe that the assistant invoking TAVILY-Search and TAVILY-EXTRAT tools online while looking for marktechpost.com for recent IA articles and extracts their content.
In conclusion, the integration of the TAVILY MCP server with Claude Desktop via Smithery has unlocked a powerful synergy of real -time web research and content extraction in your AI workflows. This configuration does not just keep your models up to date, it allows them to obtain, analyze and synthesize new information on the fly, that you are doing market studies, fueling a CLOTH pipeline or automate specific information in the field. To take full advantage of it, revisit the TAVILY dashboard and the SMITHERY tool configuration to refine the request parameters, to combine the TAVILY and TAVILY-EXTRAPTE search in your prompts and to explore advanced features such as personalized filters or planned requests.
