Howard University responds to students’ demand for digital learning modality

The Howard University continues to demonstrate leadership in higher education innovation by expanding its digital learning infrastructure, responding to what research confirms is the education sector that is rapidly growing. According to recent data published by Devlin Peck (2025), online learning has increased by 900% since its creation in 2000, making it the fastest market in the education industry.

Howard digital and online learning office (Dol), created in 2022, played a decisive role in this expansion, reporting a growth of 65% of students entirely online in the past three years. The Howard University School of Education recently launched an online diploma completion program designed for nearly 50 million adult learners who have obtained university credits but did not obtain their diplomas.
